About
An engineer, a marketer, and a teacher at heart.

I’m Allyn Pon. For 35+ years I’ve worked at the intersection of the boardroom and the codebase — a BSEE engineer from UC Santa Barbara and an MBA marketer who can set strategy with executives in the morning and unblock delivery with engineers in the afternoon.
But here’s the honest part: I never loved programming. I barely passed my Fortran class at UCSB, and for most of my career, building software meant handing specifications to someone else. What changed everything was AI — suddenly I could build the things I could only imagine before, directly from the flick of my fingers.
I also come from a family of teachers — my parents and my wife — and I’d have been one myself if it had been fiscally rewarding. This site is where those two passions finally meet: technology and teaching, for the rest of us who aren’t software developers.
My starting point is always the problem, not the technology. Not every problem needs AI — but when it’s the right call, the results can genuinely change your work and your life. I hear a lot of fear and confusion about AI from everyday, non-technical people. My answer is this site: real, honest stories of things I’ve actually built — what worked, what didn’t, and what you could reuse yourself.
